since its foundation in the year 1995, reykjaviks gus gus are working hard to make this world a less boring place. initially tagged by the press as the next big icelandic music export after bjoerk, the band swept away all cliche thinking with their highly infectuous metrosexual multimedia pop and secured themselves a deal with the prestiguous 4ad label. &#8233,,,since then a lot of hot water has been ejected by icelands geysers but gus gus miraculously always managed to combine avantgarde with pop, soul and of most prominently - with electronic music. especially with their furious live shows they ve earned themselves a devoted following worldwide. &#8233,,,&#8233,,,this years september will bring us the release of their sixth studio album that goes by the name 24/7. at this point, we dont want to let too much of the cat out of the bag but its certainly right to say that they ve once more reinvented themselves and the result is truely breathtaking. as we re convinced that the world-embracing harmonies and impeccable catchiness of add this song should be heard during this summer season, so we ve decided to already share this with you now. &#8233,,,&#8233,,,the remixes all sound as excellent as their producers: patrick chardronnet, lopazz & zarook and gluteus maximus...

with veryverywrongindeed about to do its first new label night at fabric s sister club matter three days after this release, the label is expected to get a lot of attention across the web, with interviews coming in ibiza voice, data transmission and a big competition in ra. the track, meanwhile, is inspired by the 1960 s film starring richard burton. with sheridan s classical-music background and his trademark grand piano and orchestral stabs, it s a dark and fluid number - in the spirit of the murky east end gangland tale that inspired it. and on the flip is another up-and-coming uk artist, max cooper, taking the track in a much more epic direction.

alasdair roberts spoils album features alasdairs old hands from appendix out (tom crossley and gareth eggie) as well as free percussionist xtraordinaire alex nielson, noted baroque guitarist gordon ferries, emily maclaren, niko matti ahti (of finnish free pop duo kiila), and david mcguinness and alison mcgillivray (both of scotlands concerto caledonia), bringing a loose and lively mixture of drums, bass, piano, flute, glockenspiel, harpsichord, harmonium, viola, synthesizer, dulcimer, psaltery, hurdy gurdy, fiddle, and of course guitars and voices. spoils has a lot on deck, but its meted out evenly and with an intense energy, always in service of the songs, which are marked with some of alasdairs finest melodies. additionally, spoils ingratiates new compositions in a deeply personal manner with the world of traditional music that has sunk beyond the horizon for too many of us. it is a gift to these latter days that a man like roberts exists, to sing us back to our ancient home.

following the success of his last lp, chronicles of never, and his recent track jedwab on nick curlys 8bit imprint, marcin czubala makes his return to mobilee with mezcalinna. continuing his string of exceptional releases bearing his unmistakable signature marksùslinky, undulating grooves full of bizarre twists and turns that ceaselessly continue to surprise the listenerùmezcalinna is comprised of two tracks whose continuities only serve to highlight the ways in which they differentiate themselves from and act as complements to one another. day 1 begins with a heavy bass line echoed by a stuttering percussive beat that guides the rhythm until the vocal chants and kick drum drop. accented by occasional drum fills and cymbal crashes, the track reaches its climax with the entrance of a lone piano chord that, despite its initially alienating presence, ultimately serves as a means of melding and unifying the tracks constituent components. if day 1 is an early morning track, day 2 provides its counterpart as a nighttime dance floor stormer with a darker sound and haunting, reverb-laced vocals. also beginning with a splattering of percussion but taking a decidedly somber turn with dissonant synthesizer stabs and an eerie vocal loop that shadows the track from beginning to end, rhythm and creative use of contorted vocals lead the way as this track zigzags in a way that only marcin czubala can make music do

peter kruder is one of those emblematic names that lead a whole decade and inspire myriads of djs, producers and clubbers all over the world. while he enjoys unprecedented success with kruder & dorfmeister and crossed into the platinum range (selling 1 million copies of the k&d sessions album), he never lost track of the underground. probably his stellar career would never have happened exactly this way if there wasn’t the other kruder: the adventurous dj, the deep producer, the challenging a&r at g-stone, the producer behind dj hell’s highly acclaimed “teufelswerk” album. in 15 years peter kruder has done only 3 singles under his own name though. when you get your ears around “chordal” and “law of return” it becomes totally clear why this rare outing happens on macro. kruder meets his macro debut full on modernism - showcasing his deep, dark, dancefloor grounded side. with a crisp harmonic sequence reminiscent of tchaikovsky’s nutcracker suite, “chordal” hijacks brains on the dancefloor with its vacuum depth and sizzling details. “law of return” on the other side is a kruder signature take on deepness - solemn chords wrapped around a hypnotic groove give you tears of joy. a masterpiece!

this record is a well thought selection, all tracks are different and individual. its the second release on the berlin based label nights in gale, run by patrick graeser and mike vamp. squalid is made for the big rooms. the big bass, the big bang, the big machine. a saw soothy bass is driving the thing forward. claps. hands. delay. squalid remix by tom dicicco - we are in a dark, intense space, filled with something creepy and sonic. this is very detailed and serious soundscaping music for some mind-searching moments on the floor. the 20 year old tom dicicco from northamptonshire dissects the track like a professional killer. squalid remix by david harrow - now take it away, bring in the step, into the basement. the dub veteran harrow brings all his sound experience into his mix and treats his synths like huskies. others would have made three mixes out of the ideas in this track. nights in gale is meant to support serious music. vinyl only, best quality. artists from berlin, england and the us and more to come. available on 300 limited vinyl copies.

varoslav from paris is up next on dirt crew with his i love us , an exciting new dj/production talent the label is very happy to be friends with. this ep sees varoslav team up with paris-based trio and long time friends dop (circus company) who all of you may well know from their current live crazyness and deep jams in the clubs out there … varoslav is a new talent rising amongst the parisian new house scene! playing in his groovy, sexy and energetic style sliding from tech to deep house is apparent in his releases also. when he isnt working on his own music he is found at supplement facts working along side guy gerber, another great label where varoslav released his first records. recently varoslav has a huge bomb out there with his >dont stop< bootleg that is being caned by people like ricardo villalobos and ellen allien … this ep has a little bit of everything for the house, tech house and even breakz lovers. with two very nice remixes full of variety from varoslavs friend david k (freak n chic, cocoon). his smashing breakz remix is a sure destroyer, with its phat beats and pumping bass line it is one of his most outstanding tracks ever. with the vinyl featured house mix david goes deep into the house groove and gives you his typical epic deep house flow.

long awaited new material from the detroit master andres on moodymanns >other< label. in true mahogani music style they decided to release the second of his two eps before the first. there has been a new andres album rumoured for a while now so we are thinking this is the second half of it. theres eleven tracks in total, with a few skits and interludes bridging the gap between classic detroit house jams and gospel style vocal tracks that kdj himself would be proud of. this one was well worth the wait!!

yeah, our favourite b boy house band soultourist is back with old strength! the fo eva ep is a timeless beauty with different shades. the title track is a booty bouncing dubhouse tune, which is reducing to the max to let the bassline and the beatz shine. wild catz is definitely bringing back memories to their 2007 hit turn loose and with televised they are expressing their peaktime moments. gruber & nuernberg from germany delivered a serious remix of fo eva and you can be sure that this one will be big for fans of the new german house movement. all in all its just a great work and they can certainly be proud of their originality...

vlad caia, a young romanian living in norway, with his wide range of influences are worn as true colours in his music. his demo was thrust into our hands by one of his fine colleagues, and now finally we can bring his debut platter for horizontal. as you will hear its a bright start for vlad at horizontal, he brings us two charming pieces of upfront house, chango with its cuban overtones and incessant groove calling all at the party. johnny frisco on the other hand has its own low deep funk flavor. both tracks nevertheless are proving to be a favourite of chefs such as tobi neumann, locodice, onur ozer, raresh, josh wink and of course dinky & matthew styles. we hope you enjoy as much as we do this summers release for horizontal!
